Olympic Gold Medal Game
With a score of 5-1, Luis Orta Sanchez of Cuba defeated Kenichiro Fumita of Japan.
For Luis Orta Sanchez, the gold medal was his first medal at the international/Olympic level.
Orta Sanchez overcame two-time world champion Kenichiro Fumita, as well as Sergey Emelin and a silver medalist from the previous world championship tournament to win the gold at the Olympics (Victor Ciobanu).
