After the massive success of The Vampire Diaries, the creators decided to create a spin-off series called The Originals. The drama centred on Klaus Mikaelson, a vampire-wolf hybrid who becomes tangled up in the supernatural politics of New Orleans’ French Quarter.
As popular as The Originals proved to be because to its polished production and memorable cast, the show was ultimately cancelled after only five seasons. The Originals was an intense ride all the way from the pilot to the series finale.

The original family must now contend with a long-dead entity that has been reawakened. Hope will be a high school student in the upcoming fifth season of The Originals. The Mikaelsons still have to deal with the old chaos and bring their family back together while this is happening.

Regrettably, The CW has decided to no longer air the show. A sixth season is not in the works at this time. The CW has made the decision to end production on The Originals.
This, the fifth and last season of The Originals, will be the show’s last. As of present, the CW has no plans for the following season, but anything is possible. As of June 2021, no plans or airdates have been set for season six.
