S. Hussain Shah Olympic Games Tokyo 2020

On Thursday, at the Tokyo Olympics, Pakistan’s S. Hussain Shah fell to Egypt’s Darwish Ramadan in the judo -100 kilogrammes event. S. Hussain Shah’s father, Hussain Shah, led Pakistan to a bronze medal in the 1998 Summer Olympics in Seoul.

After defeating S. Hussain Shah, Egypt’s Darwish, ranked 13 in the world, advanced to the next round. After suffering an early defeat at the Olympics, the Pakistani judoka was eliminated from competition.

S. Hussain Shah Debut in Olympic

This was his second Olympic appearance; in 2016, S. Hussain Shah had a disappointing debut in the Rio Games, losing in the second round to Artem Bloshenko of Ukraine.

It is worth noting that S. Hussain Shah was forced to skip several high-profile events in the run-up to the Olympics due to travel difficulties caused by the COVID-19 outbreak. Nagase Takanori of Japan, a close friend and training partner of S. Hussain Shah’s, won gold in the -81 kilogramme tournament the other day.

With S. Hussain Shah’s loss, five of Pakistan’s 10 Olympic competitors have been sent home empty-handed.

Shooter Gulfam Joseph, who was representing Pakistan in the 10m air-pistol category, was the first Pakistani competitor to be eliminated.

In order to advance to the championship round, eight of the 36 shooters had to score a qualifying score. At the end of the competition, Gulfam tied for seventh place with Shooters No. 7 and No. 8 from China and Serbia, respectively, with a score of 578 out of 600. Gulfam came in ninth place, missing out on eighth place by a hair’s breadth.

Since 2010, Shah has enjoyed a successful international career in Judoken, during which he has competed in numerous World Championships. In the 2015 Commonwealth Games, he took silver in the U100 KG division of the Judo tournament, and he went on to win bronze medals in both the 2013 and 2015 Asian Championships.
