Season 3 of Marco Polo continues the story of the legendary explorer and merchant. Season 3 takes place in 1294 A.D., when Kublai Khan’s grandson Khubilai becomes Emperor of China as the Mongol Empire continues to bring prosperity and peace to China.
But Khubilai now has to contend with threats from inside his own family, most notably the betrayal of his brother Ariq Boke.
The internal strife of his dynasty was bad enough, but he also had to contend with foreign powers like Japan and other Southeast Asian countries that wanted to take over China. Join Us on a Fantastic Trip Around the Globe!
When Will Marco Polo Renewal Status for Season 3?
The pilot episode of Marco Polo and the first full season were both well received. Out of 45 reviews, the average for The Main Season is 4.79/10, with a total score of 33% on Rotten Tomatoes.
A majority of site users felt the show fell short of expectations. The producers went forward with a sequel despite the movie’s lukewarm critical and commercial reaction. The second season, however, was met with less scepticism and more good reviews than the first. There are 6 reviews totaling a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with an average score of 7.2 out of 10.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix lost over $200 million on the first two seasons, so the streaming service and The Weinstein Company made the choice to end production on the show at that point.
After suffering so many defeats, they have no intention of returning for season three, and the Ott Giant has no intention of giving the show another chance to win over fans.

Even though there are many excellent shows available on Netflix, this one falls into the “unusual” category.
There is not a lot to do or see on Marco Polo. You probably wouldn’t find a show about him if you were looking for one.
